Local to the Core

As a compact family team, Custom Constructions are very proud to have been apart of the Western Australian community for over 30 years. Both Craig and Nicholas and their families are proud to call Perth home.

Custom Constructions has always serviced its many clients using, where possible, locally sourced products and materials from the many wholesalers who service the booming WA building and construction industry.

When possible we use small sub contractor trades, with the same hands on, personal, efficient and precise service that you expect from us and we provide you from them.

Experience Where it Counts

Established in 1990, the team at Custom Constructions has provided premium additions, alterations and renovations to buildings and homes throughout the Perth area.

The team has established a reputation of undertaking any project that you throw their way. Loving a challenge, and working around the mantra of “nothing is impossible”. Custom Constructions has a long list of amazing clients who have used and are still requesting the services whenever a building or construction requirement arises.

With access to a varying array of trades, designers and wholesalers, there really is no project the Custom Constructions can’t handle. Whatever the scale of work you have, we’d love to assist you.

The world has changed in the last 30 years, but Custom Constructions has maintained its objective of delivering high quality service, finishes and happy clients. Craig isn’t on the tools anymore, but manages the entire operation, assisting clients make their ideas and visions come to form. Nicholas Robertson

Supervisor

As Craig’s son, Nicholas has been a part of the company from the beginning. Part time work on the school holidays has progresses into the main supervisor for all of the Custom Constructions projects. Nicholas is in charge of making sure the project is progressing as envisaged, and making changes if it isn’t. Working as a conduit between trades, designers and clients. With Nicholas and his team of full and part time employees and subcontractors, your project is in expert, experienced and safe hands.

Our story

1990

Craig takes a leap

Craig takes a risk and goes out on his own. Having been the supervisor for his previous employer, the sub contractors he has overseen are all prepared to join him on his journey. Craig completes his builders ticket at the same time. Advertising in the local papers is undertaken and lots of projects come in through friends, family and word of mouth from both.

1996

Scout Hall

Lots of projects have been completed for happy clients. Lots of enquiry from advertising and calls from the many site builders signs throughout Perth. Its time for a internal project. The old Scout Hall in Shenton Park is purchased in a joint venture with a few stakeholders. The building is transformed into 3 fabulous, custom designed and built apartments.

1997

Nash and Ghersinich

A considerate introduction. A client has requested that Custom Constructions undertakes a project designed by Nash and Ghersinich Architects and Designers. This introduction transformed into a business relationship that is maintained to this day and hopefully long into the future. Amazing designs that transform clients homes.

1998

CPM

Another collaboration is undertaken. CPM are a property maintenance company that employed Custom Constructions to undertake the more substantial projects they had to do. Plenty of projects over the time until the company was retired.

2002

Mosman Park

Introduced through mutual parties, Custom Constructions starts to undertake projects from the Town of Mosman Park. Various projects throughout the town are completed to various council buildings including Council House on Bayview Tce.

2007

Nicholas comes on board

Custom Constructions officially becomes a family business. After working part time from the company on and off, Nicholas leaves the hospitality industry and commits full-time to Custom Constructions. Also undertaking his Building & Construction Diploma part time.

2009

Camelot Theatre

Through the Town of Mosman Park, the company gets to work on the iconic Camelot theatre on Lochee St. having undertaken works within the building itself, the theatre area required new boundary walls and other works to its new alfresco area. Works undertaken have blended in with the original old building, which also required some maintenance.

2019

Wilding St

A block of land comes up for sale in Doubleview and the company snaps it up. Plans are submitted for a 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom family home with beautiful views down the hill and towards the city. Due to the large amounts of clients requesting their projects finished 1st, the build time takes longer than expected but is finished at the start of 2020 and is sold to a lucky family.

2020

COVID 19

What a year. Started off in a fantastic way with a new Robertson born on the 16th January. And then the pandemic struck. Of course we were very lucky in Western Australia, with only a small stoppage in production works. Once we apparently all forgot about the “C word”, projects started coming in thick and fast, with a massive finish to the end of the year.

2021 is also looking like a busy year again with a great variety of projects already on the books.

Stronger by the year

Custom Constructions is looking at growing its work force and taking on a larger volume of projects. Nicholas is looking at moving completely off the tools and into a full-time  supervisors position. This allows Nicholas the freedom to be able to be completely involved on all projects, allocating more time to the relationships between the company and its many, wonderful clients.

The strong drive to grow is matched by the endeavour to still remain a niche, family business. Weighted heavily towards the personalised service and professional workmanship we have been providing for 30 years now.

The idea is to have Craig and Nicholas maintaining the personalised touches, whilst supervising our already skilled work force. Continuing to be the conduit between what the client desires, what the design team conceives and what the tradesmen can construct.

The team at Custom Constructions is looking forward to what the future will hold. Always hoping that the next 30 years are filled with just as much hard work, happy clients and amazing house and home transformations.
